GrocerMind.JP ("we", "our", "the Service") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. This policy complies with Japan's Act on Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and applicable international privacy regulations.
Account Data: Name, email address, country, and language preference. Inventory Data: Food items, quantities, expiry dates, and categories. Receipt Data: Photos of receipts (processed by AI, not stored as images after processing), extracted items, prices, and store names. Usage Data: App interactions, streaks, and points earned. Family Data: Shared household member names and inventory if you use family sync. We do NOT collect: payment information, government IDs, precise GPS location, health records, or data from other apps.
We use your data to: provide and improve the Service; generate meal suggestions and expiry alerts; calculate price comparisons (using anonymized data); track your points; send opted-in notifications; and analyze usage to improve the product. We do NOT: sell your data to third parties; use it for advertising; share individual purchase data with stores; or make automated decisions about you.
Price Data: Store name, product name, and price are added to a shared anonymous database for price comparison. No personal information is attached. Family Members: Shared inventory and activity within your family group. Service Providers: Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic Claude AI (receipt processing) — under strict data processing agreements. Legal: We may disclose data if required by law.
Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. Access is protected by Row Level Security (RLS) policies, ensuring you can only access your own family's data.
Your data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data will be deleted within 30 days. Anonymized price data will be retained. Backups may persist for up to 90 days.
You have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; delete your account and data; export your data; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC) or your local authority. We use browser localStorage to save your language preference, currency setting, and app state. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. No data is shared with advertising networks.
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
Your data may be processed in countries outside Japan, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers in accordance with APPI.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
